Blockchain Engineers Break The IT Salary Ceiling

Aug 14, 2019

The Biggest Tech hunt of the 21st century is on! And Blockchain engineers are the game for it.

A 2019 report from the leading job search portal Hired says the demand for software engineers with blockchain development skills grew by over 517% in 2018 and the trend continues to shoot up. In the parallel freelance universe, Upwork rated blockchain as the second-highest “in-demand” skill. 2 in 3 of total software engineering jobs listed blockchain as a required skill. In December 2018, LinkedIn placed blockchain at number one position in its top five emerging careers list.

As demand for blockchain engineers’ swells, so do their salaries. Hired rated blockchain engineers among the top three highest-paid professionals. On an average, engineers in the San Francisco Bay area are pocketing USD 155k. The Gartner’s Blockchain Spectrum has predicted its maturity around 2025 until then there is no slowing up.

Digital identity, workforce management, smart contracts, distributed data storage and what not; Blockchain is everywhere. Data breaches and surging customer privacy concerns that are among the top concerns for the global c-suite are further spiking up the demand for blockchain engineers with security expertise at lightning speed. Demand for security engineers rose by 132% in just the last 12 months.

Institutions Mere Ripples in The Demand Sea

It is a racket out there. Startups are introducing novel technologies and big organizations are in a flurry to transform their old-school operations. Companies can kill to get their hands on the best talent. And that’s when businesses haven’t even begun to implement their use cases. Startups that are unable to hire from the countable few top engineering schools providing genuine blockchain courses are scurrying to locate blockchain engineers despite offering premium salaries for the roles. In the acute shortage of talent, both Fortune companies and startups alike are flaring to less-known schools and boot camps.

In 2018, Blockchain job openings grew by more than fivefold! In 2018 itself, job opening for developers skilled in creating blockchain ledgers grew by 33 times. Lack of expertise and know-how is paralyzing middle-level education providers who are failing colossally in this big-league task. In the absence of right training, 1 in 5 engineers are resorting to self-taught skills.

Is Certification the Best Way to Ascend in Blockchain Roles?

Absolutely. Until our institutions call to arms, gear up and pick the sound-frequency speed of this 21st-century technology Big-Bang. Getting certified from a global knowledge leader could be the simplest, fastest and easiest way to showcase and improve your skills. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that this might be the only resort.

Certified Blockchain Engineer (CBE™) certification by Central Blockchain Council of America, with its unrivaled knowledge and comprehensive curriculum and standards, provides the best footing for applicants to launch themselves in top-notch global blockchain careers. A CBE certification will authenticate its holder’s ability to develop applications for versatile platforms including Ethereum, Hyperledger, OpenChain, Stratis, Lisk, IOTA and Hydrachain. The robust UBKF™ standards rank the CBE™ certified tech-talents at par with their non-certified senior engineering compatriots.

Still Thinking? You Might Be Wasting Your Best Opportunity!

Mehul Patel, CEO of Hired says "I think there's a deep feeling here that blockchain is the next wave of technology innovation that will underpin almost every industry one way or another – sort of like the first wave of the internet in the 1990s…So no, I don't think this is a temporary thing."

Our world is undergoing a tech metamorphosis and developers are the prime catalysts driving this change. If there is one attribute that can ensure your survival during the fourth industrial revolution, then it has got to be innovation. And blockchain sits on the tip of this opportunity Everest.

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today!” Are you?
